Design Feature of the Month: The Manhole House, Brisbane

A smart response to a tricky site and a showcase of what Arcopod’s onsite build team can do
Not every project fits the factory to foundation model, and that’s where Arcopod’s onsite division steps in. The Manhole House is a custom designed two bedroom modular home currently under construction in Brisbane, built onsite due to limited crane access and a steep, narrow block.
What makes this project truly unique is the large existing sewer manhole on the site, which created a required setback zone and inspired the home’s name. Rather than seeing it as an obstacle, our design team worked closely with the owner to embrace it, incorporating a breezeway feature that now serves as both a functional connection and an architectural highlight.

Why Onsite?
While many Arcopod homes are built offsite and delivered complete, The Manhole House demonstrates our ability to adapt modular thinking for challenging sites through onsite construction.
If your land is steep, tight, or inaccessible by crane, Arcopod can still bring the full design experience to life on your site, with no compromise on quality or speed.
